10 Network Marketing Landmines You Must Avoid

10 Network Marketing Landmines You Must Avoid
by Mark Yarnell

1. Comparison Bomb

Once you have selected a company, it is important not to look at other deals or companies. You may have someone in your team try to show you one – ignore them. You need to get far away from that type of distraction.
Focus, focus, focus is key.
The bottom line is, if you have already joined an MLM company, you should not be looking at other deals. The time for due diligence and comparison is past. You should be 100% focused on achieving some success in your current primary MLM business.

2. Multiple Income Stream Bomb

Mark Yarnell says that working multiple MLM companies at the same time does not work. He does make the distinction between multiple MLMs and selling affiliate tools that complement your primary MLM.
Bottom Line – You must not promote more than one MLM.
MLM success comes from focusing on your business and learning all that you need to learn to achieve results first. When you are successful with that and working part-time at it, or no longer working at it, maybe then you can think about other income streams

3. Multi-tasking Bomb

Never multi-task when you are doing professional relationship building. This simply means that you should focus on one thing at a time. When you are building relationships for your business, only focus on that and nothing else. We can multi-task, but we cannot multi-focus. Hence the dangers related to driving while using cell phones. Even if for some reason you multi-task at times, when you are connecting or professional relationship building you should be 100% focused on that activity alone.

4. Banker Bomb

Do not buy anyone into the business. You can never bankroll prospects into your MLM, no matter how committed they say they are. Every story I’ve heard of this ended badly. Mark Yarnell talks about how much money he has lost buying people into the business and each time it never worked. Don’t rob your team member of personal development and growth by doing this.

5. Product Expert Bomb

Don’t waste too much time or be overly concerned with knowing or explaining the tech aspects of your deal. Too much info will confuse your prospect. I’ve been guilty of this in the past. Let the tools do the work for you. Being an expert in the product is not duplicatable and you make it too hard for your team to do their business.
You want to be a master asker, not a master teller.

6. Friends & Family Bomb

How many times have you been told to make a list including your friends and family? As you are getting started with your Network Marketing business, these people are not your prospects. When you start making big bucks they will beat down your door to join.
Why chase them away & ruin relationships with them when you are getting started?
The few people in this group that may be qualified and also interested should be presented to in your first few days in the business.
This should be done in a very relaxed, informal way.
Your “warm market” are those with whom you have an affiliation and who know and/or trust you. A lot of times, that is not your family.
Mark Yarnell talks about his love of flying and how he considered his warm market being fellow pilots and that was where he started.

7. Networking Bomb

Don’t go to networking meetings to promote your business. These people are not there to join your MLM business, they want to recruit you into their deal. Networking meetings are generally a waste of time for the Network Marketer. You are better off attending social events meeting people with similar interests and as they get to know you they will be interested in what you do. Once they are interested, then you can talk about your business.
DO NOT go to a social event with the intent of finding people to join your team.
Instead go for the meeting’s intended purpose and start to build relationships.

8. Dabble Bomb

Don’t waste time on dabblers. People who just want to work a couple hours a week and make lots of money are not good prospects. Treating this business like a hobby doesn’t pay well. Doing this part-time is fine, but not if you want to make big bucks your first year.

9. Dump Bomb

Don’t give them too much info in the beginning. This will confuse them or scare them away. Don’t lie or mislead, but don’t overdo it when giving information either. If you have a good upline, they should be working hard to help you understand not to dump on anyone and instead leverage your upline with 3-way calls.

10. Shortcut Bomb

There are no shortcuts.
Just like any business you call your own, it’s hard work to succeed in network marketing. Mindset and million dollar habits are two keys.
Don’t spend lots of time, energy and money becoming distracted with shortcuts.
If you are not taking the simple steps which you must take every day, you will be left wondering why you don’t have the results you are seeking.
Time-saving tools and leverage are great, but make sure you are taking the basic steps effectively and efficiently first, and that these basic steps are habit for you.
Achieving success comes from repeatedly doing the things that the other 97% of network marketers are not willing to do on a daily basis.
Execute the simple steps while avoiding the landmines and you will be amazed at your results over time.

Happy NETWORKING!
